Time to get Thinking!!!

Hmmm... So a few people have been exclaiming that I haven't been posting on here lately. This is because I have been trying to think about what Ideas I can come up with next!

As I have my sewing maching I am going to make a doorstop for the Spare 'Red' Room. I have the materials already, and I am thinking about making a triangle one... and then an air freshner for the same room too... I think I might start that project tonight.. I will have to design a new design though... I don't want to copy the other door stop, I want to make something different.

I also have to make my Fiance a pillow, but without fabric thats difficult... I am also thinking about making different types of hoodies for iphones, as holders, and perhaps one for an Ipad?! I also bought a box of tissues the other day, and was thinking about making a holder for them...

I am off to Spain at the weekend, and would have loved to have taken my stitching stuff with me, but as you aren't allowed sharp objects in your hand luggage, that is proven to be a little difficult. Although Whislt I am out in Spain I could try and hunt for some fabrics to bring back... Just a thought...

I can't seem to find fabrics these days that aren't  too over expensive! I will have to try and go to charity shops I think and find perhaps old clothes?! Any suggestions?

Trying Out The Sewing Machine - New Pillow!

Yesterday, I got the sewing machine out, to try it out. So I cut the pillow fabric out ready, and also threaded the machine up ready to use! (Which was a challenge in itself, as I had forgotton how to do that!)

The Pillow has been sewed up at all the sides, except for where the zip is going to go, which i should hopefully recieve today! Fingers crossed!

However there has been a few teething problems, as the thread keeps snapping, so will have to make sure that its all correctly threaded and its not catching on anything!!

The finished product will be displayed in all its glory later! Minus the pillow stuffing of course!!!

The Beginnings of a Pillow!

I have decided that my first project with the sewing machine is going to be the pillow, just so I can get used to it, as its only going to be a square one, so the lines are going to be pretty straight forward. I have enough material to use up, and buttons to customise it.

I will begin this evening by cutting the fabric ready. I will have to buy a zip too, and some stuffing to fill the pillow up!

I can't wait to begin! Watch this space, as pictures will start appearing!!!

It's Arrived!!!

My sewing machine has arrived!!! I am very happy with my purchase! I wanted to share this moment with you all !!! :-)

Ideas, Ideas!!!!

So I have just been browsing the tintanet, and came across a few more ideas, (I am going to have to write these down soon!).

I am going to have a go at making:

* Coasters
* Scented Drawer Sachets
* A Drawstring Bag

These will all be made of fabric, and I will walk people through the process, if they want to have a go at any of these themselves, as I do have patterns for them too!

Door Stop Pattern

I have attached the web address for the pattern of the door stop I made, however I did adapt mine a little! :-)

New Sewing Machine!

I have a problem, which is clicking buy on EBay! I have just recently bought a new sewing machine from EBay. Hopefully my Fiance has picked it up from the post office for me! (Love you too! :-)). I have also just bought some red fabric, so I can make a door stop for our spare room. So I will be trying out my new sewing machine on that at the weekend, or perhaps in the evening.

Firstly though, I have to use up the fabric which I made the door stop from, as I have some left. I have decided that I will make a matching scatter cushion to sit on the side. (Bearing in mind I am just doing trial and error in my designs). Once I have made it, I will publish what I have achieved for you all to see! :-D

Oh and I have just bought a bag full of scrap fabric from.... yup! You guessed it EBay! I have found a pattern of a stuffed hippo toy, which looks dead cute, so I will be having a go at making that soon too! So I am going to nice and busy!

Don't forget if you have any patterns you would like to post, feel free!!

The Beginning of: My Door Stop!

Doesn't it annoy you when doors never stay open? It really aggravates me so I decided my first project would be a door stop.

I searched the design, sourced the fabric, and also bought some added extras!

I have photos to show how my door stop has progressed! From paper to something I can call mine! The only thing it needs is to be filled up with beans so once I have done that I will add a photo of it in its full glory, propping up a door!!

New Blog!!!!

So I decided after seeing my Fiance making his blog that I would make one too. I am going to blog about my creations and designs in making things for the home, from scrap fabrics.
Ever thought about making your things for around the house? Then look no further!

I have made a few things recently which I will post up, along with patterns and instructions in case you would like to recreate them.

If you have any ideas, which you would like me to make for you, then please do not hesitate and post your ideas, and I can see what I can do!

This has always been a hobby of mine, that has been close to my heart, as I love to make things. I would one day like to make a dress, but lets walk before we run, eh?!

Oh and I have just bought a sewing machine, and I cannot wait for it to arrive!!! :-D
